Hernie Compact Workshop
Hernie Compact is a 3-day workshop established in Germany and certified by German Hernia Society (DHG – Deutsche Hernien Gesellschaft) needed for certification of the hernia centre. The program was created by 3 surgeons (Prof. Wolfgang Reinpold, Dr Bernd Stechemesser and Dr Ralph Lorenz) and is conducted since 2011 in Germany and since 2014 in Austria. This program is considered to be a template for EHS Hernia School (Prof. W. Renipold is currently the Secretary for Education of the Board of EHS).
The workshop consists of 3-day activity
- Lectures – giving the precise summary of the knowledge about anatomy, diagnostic modalities, treatment and aftercare in inguinal and ventral hernia repair
- Cadaver lab – for anatomical knowledge and operative technique demonstration
- Live surgery in 5 hospitals for small group practice.
The workshop will be led by Dr Berd Stechmesser in cooperation with Department and Chair of Pathology of the Medical University of Gdansk (Prof. Wojciech Biernat) and Swissmed Hospital (Dr Maciej Śmietański) and partner hospitals.
The general partner of the workshops is Aesculap Academy offering support, laparoscopic equipment (including 3D laparoscopes) and operative material. (see: https://poland.aesculap-academy.com)
